Description
History and origin
Howlite is named after Henry How, a geologist and mineralogist who discovered it in Canada in 1868. In some American tribes, howlite was nicknamed "white bison stone" because its appearance is comparable to that of white bison. Howlite mines can still be found in Canada, but the United States has the largest known deposits to date.
