Description

VoltarenActigo 1% gel tube applicator is an anti-inflammatory medicine and painkiller in the form of a gel for application to the skin, only to the painful area. This medicine is indicated for adults (from 15 years of age) as a short-term local treatment for minor trauma: sprains, bruises. You should consult your doctor if you do not feel any improvement or if you feel less well after 4 days.

Directions for use

Mode and route of administration Local use. External use Frequency of administration 1 local application, 2 to 3 times a day, for a maximum of 4 days. If the pain persists beyond this period, a doctor should be consulted. The dose for each application should not exceed 2.5g of gel. This maximum dose corresponds to a 6 cm strip of gel. Duration of treatment Maximum duration of 4 days.

Precautions for use

If there is no improvement after 4 days of treatment, consult your doctor. In adolescents aged 15 years and over, if the symptoms worsen, it is recommended that you seek the advice of your doctor. Precautions for use Do not apply to mucous membranes or the eyes, only to the painful area. If a rash appears after application, the treatment must be stopped immediately. Do not apply to a large area of skin or for a prolonged period without medical advice. This medicine contains propylene glycol and may cause skin irritation. Due to the presence of benzyl benzoate, this medicine may cause irritation to the skin, eyes and mucous membranes.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding

Pregnancy If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you think you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine. This medicine should not be used from the 25th week of amenorrhea (beginning of the 6th month of pregnancy) onwards, as it may have harmful effects on the foetus or cause problems during delivery. Voltarenactigo gel should only be used on medical advice until the 24th week of amenorrhoea (5 months of pregnancy) and the dose should be as low as possible and the duration of treatment as short as possible. VoltarenActigo 1% gel passes into breast milk in small quantities. During breastfeeding, VoltarenActigo 1% gel should only be used after medical advice. However, VoltarenActigo 1% gel should not be applied to the breasts of breastfeeding mothers, or to a large area of skin, or for a prolonged period. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information.

Contraindications

Never use Vltarenactigo 1% gel from the 25th week of amenorrhea (beginning of the 6th month of pregnancy). In case of allergy to this drug or a related drug, including other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, aspirin in case of allergy to one of the excipients on injured skin, whatever the lesion: oozing lesions, eczema, infected lesion, burn or wound in children under 15 years. In case of doubt, it is essential to ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.

Undesirable effects

Like all medicines, VoltarenActigo 1% gel can cause side effects, but they do not always occur in everyone. Exceptionally, reactions may occur that may be severe: allergic skin reactions: rash (pimples), hives, blisters breathing problems such as asthma attacks (short, noisy breaths, feeling of reduced breathing capacity) general anaphylaxis-type reactions (swelling of the face, lips, tongue, throat). Treatment should be stopped immediately and your doctor or pharmacist should be informed. More frequently, undesirable effects may occur, which are generally mild and temporary: local skin effects such as redness, itching, skin irritation, erosion or local ulceration, very exceptionally, increased sensitivity to the sun, other general effects of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, depending on the amount of gel applied, the surface treated and its condition, the duration of treatment and whether or not a closed dressing is used. Your doctor or pharmacist should be informed.

Composition

Active ingredients Diethylamine diclofenac 1.16g, corresponding to diclofenac sodium 1.00g per 100g of gel. Excipients Diethylamine, carbomer 974P, cetomacrogol 1000, carpylic and capric acid ester with C12-C18 fatty alcohol, isopropyl alcohol, liquid paraffin, cream fragrance 45 (containing benzyl benzoate), propylene glycol, purified water.
