How do corns appear?

The skin is made up of 3 superimposed layers, from the outside inwards: the epidermis, the dermis and the hypodermis. The epidermis is made up of specific cells, the keratinocytes which form in the basal layer. As we age, these keratinocytes approach the surface of the skin, die and are eliminated (by desquamation). Under normal circumstances, there is a balance between the creation of new cells and the shedding of older ones. On the other hand, when the skin is subjected to excessive pressure or repeated micro-traumas, it triggers a defense reaction which leads to an increase in the rate of cell renewal. Normal desquamation is no longer sufficient and thickening of the stratum corneum (outermost layer of the epidermis) is observed. These often very painful lesions are called "calluses" when they are located under the sole of the foot and "corns" when they are located on the toes. When the corn is located between the toes, it is called "interdigital corn" or "bird's eye" How to treat a corn? It is necessary to restore the natural balance which exists between the production of new cells and the desquamation by removing the pressures or the repeated micro-traumas. To do this, simply place between the skin and the aggressor (shoe) a comfort element such as EPITACT Digitubes EPITHELIUM TM corns, bird's eye.
