Therapeutic Indications: This drug contains an antihistamine; dexchlorphenamine. It is symptomatic treatment for allergic reactions such as: - rhinitis (hay fever, non-seasonal rhinitis...) - conjunctivitis (eye inflammation) - urticaria For adults and children over 6 years old: Contraindications: Do not take POLARAMINE 2 mg, scored tablet in the following cases: · hypersensitivity to one of its components in particular antihistamines, · difficulty urinating from prostatic problems or other; · certain types of glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye), · children under 6 years This drug should not be taken (except with doctors advice) during treatment IF IN DOUBT IT IS ADVISABLE TO ASK YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST FOR ADVICE. Special warnings and side effects: Special warnings: This medication only treats the symptoms of your allergy. You need to find out the cause. If symptoms persist or worsen consult your doctor. This drug contains lactose. This drug is not recommended for patients with a galactose intolerance, a Lapp lactose intolerance or glucose-galactose malabsorption (rare hereditary illnesses). Precautions for use: In case of long-term liver or kidney disease, CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR before changing the dosage. This drug needs medical guidance for elderly patients: * constipation, vertigo or drowsiness, * prostate problems. CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR before taking this antihistamine. Avoid drinking alcohol and taking medication containing alcohol during this treatment. IF IN DOUBT DO NOT HESITATE TO CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST FOR ADVICE. Interaction with other drugs: Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you take or have recently taken any other drug, including any non-prescription drugs. This drug contains dexchlorphenamine. Other drugs contain this. Do not mix with other drugs so as not to exceed the recommended dose. Pregnancy and breast feeding: Pregnancy: It is possible to take this medication during the first two trimesters of pregnancy. Use during third trimester is only allowed if needed at a very a low dosage. However, drug abuse during the end of pregnancy can cause harmful effects on the baby. Breast feeding: This drug passes into breast milk. It is therefore not recommended to take this during breast-feeding. Consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking any drugs. Driving and use of machinery: For drivers and users of machinery, be aware of the risk of drowsiness from taking this drug. The effect is heightened with the consumption of alcoholic drinks or other drugs containing alcohol. It is advisable to start the treatment in the evening. Dosage: Suitable for adults and children over the age of 6 years old. Adults and children over 12 years of age: 1 tablet, 3-4 times per day. Children 6-12 years old: 1/2 a tablet, 2-3 times per day. How to use: Orally. Swallow tablets with a glass of water. Frequency of dose: Doses spaced out at a minimum of 4 hours. Given the possible drowisness effect from this medication, it is recommended to start treatment in the evening. Length of treatment: Short-term treatment. Instructions in case of overdose: In case of an overdose or accidental poisoning, inform your doctor immediately. Side effects: Like all drugs POLARAMINE, 2 mg scored tablets can cause side effects (this will not affect everyone): · For certain side effects YOU MUST IMMEDIATELY STOP TREATMENT AND TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR. * Allergic reactions: - Skin reactions (erythema, eczema, purpura, urticaria), - Angioedema (urticaria followed by swelling of the face and neck leading to breathing problems), - Anaphylactic shock. * Significant decrease in white blood cells in the blood which may be due to the onset of fever with or without signs of infection. * Abnormal decrease of platelets in the blood resulting in nosebleeds or bleeding of the gums. · Other side effects that can appear: * Drowsiness, decrease in vigilance from the beginning of treatment. * Memory and concentration difficulties, vertigo (more frequent amongst elderly people). * Lack of coordination, shivers. * confusion, hallucination. * dry mouth, visual impairment, urinary retention, constipation, palpitations, fall in blood pressure. · In rare cases, signs of excitement (agitation, nervousness, insomnia) can arise. If you notice side effects that are not mentioned here, or if certain side effects become more severe, please consult your doctor or pharmacist.
