Product Indication To treat symptoms of: – seasonal or non-seasonal allergic rhinitis of the eyes and nose; and – chronic idiopathic urticaria. If you have chronic idiopathic urticaria, consult your doctor. Suitable for ages 12 and over. Directions for Use To be taken orally. Melt on the tongue and swallow. 1. Break one square off the blister-pack, following the perforation. 2. Remove the protective film. 3. Take the tablet. 4. Place the tablet on the tongue, allow it to melt, and then swallow. Alternatively, dissolve the tablet in a small amount of water and drink the solution. Dosage–Adults and children over 12 years: 1 tablet (= 10 mg) per day – If you have moderate kidney dysfunction: Half a tablet (= 5 mg) per day – If you have severe kidney dysfunction: Half a tablet (= 5 mg) every other day. If you are concerned that Alairgix tablets are too strong or too weak for you, consult your doctor. Length of Treatment Dependent on the type and severity of your symptoms. Consult your doctor. Ingredients Active Ingredient: Cetirizine dihydrochloride (10 mg per tablet) Other Ingredients: Betadex, povidone, sodium cyclamate, powder cellulose, monosodium citrate, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, apple flavour (HR 290107) Packaging This medicine is made as a dissolving tablet and sold in packs of 7. Precautions for Use – If you suffer from kidney dysfunction, consult your doctor prior to use. You may need to take a lower dose. – If you are epileptic or at risk of seizures, consult your doctor prior to use. – Avoid alcohol while using this medicine. Contra-indications Do NOT use if: – you have severe kidney disease (in the form of severe renal insufficiency with creatinine clearance below 10 ml per minute); or – you are allergic to any of this medicine's ingredients, or to hydroxyzine or piperazine derivatives (similar substances found in other medicines). Pregnancy and Breast-Feeding– If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, consult your doctor or pharmacist before using any form of medicine. – As with other medicines, do NOT use Alairgix if you are pregnant. – Alairgix passes naturally into breast milk. As such, do NOT use if you are breast-feeding. Driving and Operating Machinery– Clinical tests have not demonstrated any reduction of alertness, slowing of reaction time or impairment of the general ability to drive safely due to use of Alairgix in the recommended amounts. – If you drive or operate potentially dangerous machinery, do NOT exceed the recommended dose. – Before using this medicine, assess carefully how well your body tolerates cetirizine in general. – In certain people, cetirizine use combined with consumption of alcohol or use of central nervous system depressants can reduce alertness and slow reaction time.
