Description
The Gibaud straightener for Hallux valgus is an orthosis that is worn exclusively at night. It is indicated in case of deformation of the foot at the level of the big toe and performs mechanical traction in order to gradually put it back in its axis. This medical device is intended only for hallux valgus which are still potentially reducible.
Relatively common, hallux valgus is a very modern ailment, most often linked to a genetic background, but especially to the wearing of narrow-toed and/or heeled shoes. More commonly known as a bunion, it is characterized by an outward deviation of the metatarsophalangeal joint, resulting in the formation of a ball on the side of the foot and a bringing together of the big toe towards its neighbor. Besides the aesthetic aspect, this phenomenon is also painful and uncomfortable, forcing the patient to choose wide and/or orthopedic shoes.
Usage tips
Position the orthosis in front of your foot then put the orthosis on like a sock, passing your foot under the elastic mesh. Place the foam cushion against the hallux valgus. The cushion is removable and adapts to your morphology. Close the orthosis on the inside with the two self-gripping hooks, the large tab surrounds the foot, the other goes around the big toe. Adjust to achieve a firm but comfortable fit
Worn only at night or when idle.
