Indication Betaine Dermal is an anti-septic containing iodine which is used for: - an anti-septic on cuts and superficial burns, - local treatment to clean skin and mucous infections. - an anti-septic on the skin for operations. How to use Betadine Dermal How to use Local use. Dosage DO NOT SWALLOW. Can be used in its pure state or diluted. - Pure: brushing onto the skin. - Diluted: *Cleaning cuts: dilute 1/10th with water or sterile physiological serum (1 volume of solution with 10 volumes of water). *Irrigating cuts: dilute 2% in a sterile physiological serum (1 volume of solution with 100 volumes of serum). Composition of Betadine Dermal Active ingreidnets (per 100ml): Iodine povidone: 10 g 5Ml dose contains 0.5g of iodine povidone. 10Ml dose contains 1g of iodine povidone. Other ingredients: Glycerol, lauric ether of macrogol (9), disodium phosphate dihydrate, citric acid monohydrate, sodium hydroxide, purified water. Format Betadine Dermal meda is in the form of a solution for skin application. Box of 10x5ml single-doses. Precautions for use Be careful when taking BETADINE DERMAL 10% solution. Special warnings: The iodine contained in this medicinal product may pass through the skin, particularly in the case of repeated use or on certain sensitive or fragile skin and pass into the general circulation (undesired and troublesome effects). Special attention is required for regular applications on injured skin in patients with renal insufficiency, especially in severe burns (see Possible side effects). Use on children under 30 months of age requires ADVICE FROM YOUR PHYSICIAN OR PHARMACIST: for young children, application of this medication requires special precautions. Precautions for use IF IN DOUBT DO NOT HESITATE TO CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST FOR ADVICE. Contraindications Do not use BETADINE DERMAL 10% solution in the following cases: - repeated use from the second trimester or pregnancy as well as during breast-feeding. - a newborn under 1 month old. - for disinfecting of medical and surgical equipment. - previous allergy to one of the ingredients. There are no cross-reactions with iodinated contrast products. Reactions of intolerance (anaphylactoid reactions) to iodinated contrast media or seafood anaphylaxis do not constitute a contraindication to the use of BETADINE DERMIQUE 10%. This drug should not be taken unless with doctor’s consent. IF IN DOUBT IT IS ADVISABLE TO ASK YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST FOR ADVICE. Pregnancy and breast feeding Pregnancy: Due to the iodine content, the use of this drug, in the case of repeated use, is contraindicated during the last 6 months of pregnancy. This drug can only be used occasionally following advice from your doctor. Breast feeding: Breast-feeding is not recommended whilst taking this medication. Consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking any drugs.
