Indication Betadine MEDA 10% is an anti-septic. It is for: - cuts and superficial burns, - local treatment for certain skin infections (bacterial or susceptible to be reinfected). How to take Betadine Meda 10% How to use Local use. Dosage Local application or using a dressing. External use only. Length of treatment Composition of the drug Active ingredient (per 100g gel): Iodine povidone: 10 g Other ingredients: Macrogol 400, macrogol 4000, macrogol 6000, purified water. Format This drug is in the form of a gel. 30 g tube. Precautions for use Special warnings: The iodine contained in this medicinal product may pass through the skin, particularly in the case of repeated use or on certain sensitive or fragile skin. Avoid prolonged or repeated use. Special attention is required for regular applications on injured skin in patients with renal insufficiency, especially in severe burns (see Possible side effects). Precautions for use: Use on children between 1-30 months is not recommended. If necessary, apply in small amounts. Wash with sterile water afterwards. Be careful on sensitive skin for children and pregnant women. IF IN DOUBT DO NOT HESITATE TO CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST FOR ADVICE. Contraindications Do not use BETADINE 10% gel in the following cases: - repeated use from the second trimester or pregnancy as well as during breast-feeding. - a newborn under 1 month old. - previous allergy to one of the ingredients. There are no cross-reactions with iodinated contrast products. Reactions of intolerance (anaphylactoid reactions) to iodinated contrast media or seafood anaphylaxis do not constitute a contraindication to the use of BETADINE 10%. Pregnancy and breast feeding Pregnancy: Due to the iodine content, the use of this drug, in the case of repeated use, is contraindicated during the last 6 months of pregnancy. This drug can only be used during pregnancy following advice from your doctor. Breast feeding: Breast-feeding is not recommended whilst taking this medication. Consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking any drugs.
