Product Description Actron effervescent tablets contain caffeine and two analgesics (pain-killers): aspirin and paracetamol. For relief of pain and/or fever (e.g. headaches, flu-like conditions and toothache).For adult use only. Directions for Use For oral administration. Dissolve tablet(s) in water (sugared if you prefer), milk or fruit juice. Drink resulting solution immediately. Frequency of DosesTo keep pain and fever at bay, take doses at regular intervals. Leave at least 4 hours between doses. – In cases of severe kidney disease (or dysfunction), leave at least 8 hours between doses. – This medicine contains caffeine and therefore should not be taken in the evening. – Do use for prolonged periods unless recommended by your doctor. DosageLeave at least 4 hours between doses. Adults: The following is a guide only. – Take 1 tablet, repeating every 4 hours if necessary. – If your discomfort is more intense, you can take up to 2 tablets. – Do not take more than 7 tablets a day. – The maximum recommended daily dose of aspirin is 3 grams. Elderly people: The following is a guide only. – Take 1 tablet, repeating every 4 hours if necessary. – If your discomfort is more intense, you can take up to 2 tablets. – Do not take more than 5 tablets a day. – The maximum recommended daily dose of aspirin is 2 grams. Length of TreatmentDo not use for more than 3 days for fever relief or 5 days for pain relief unless recommended by your doctor. Ingredients Active IngredientsPer tablet: Acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin) – 0.267 g Paracetamol – 0.133 g Anhydrous caffeine – 0.040 g Other Ingredients: Anhydrous citric acid, sodium bicarbonate Warnings and Precautions for Use Unless recommended by your doctor, do NOT use if you have: – gout; – a history of digestive problems, bleeding in the digestive tract or a developing stomach or duodenal (peptic) ulcer; – kidney or liver disease; – asthma (asthma attack may be caused by allergy to aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents) – this is a contra-indication; or – heavy periods, or are using coil contraception. Even in very small doses, aspirin increases and significantly prolongs (by several days) the risk of bleeding. If you are due to undergo surgery (even a minor procedure) in the near future, consult your doctor, surgeon, anaesthetist or dentist as appropriate before using this medicine. Contains sodium (440 mg per tablet). Use with caution if you are trying to limit your salt intake. This medicine is a stimulant and therefore should not be taken during the evening. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Contra-indications Do NOT: – give to children under 15 years (due to the presence of caffeine). – use if you are over 6 months pregnant; – use if you are allergic to aspirin, paracetamol or any similar medicine (particularly NSAIAs), or any of this medicine's other ingredients; – use if you have severe liver disease; or – use if you have a growing peptic ulcer; – use if you suffer from haemorrhagic disease (bleeding) or are at risk of bleeding; – use if you are taking: –– methotrexate in doses higher than 15 mg/week; or –– oral anti-coagulants and you are prescribed elevated doses of aspirin (3 g/day or more). Consult your doctor prior to use if you are currently: – breast-feeding; – undergoing treatment using: –– oral anti-coagulants and you are prescribed lower doses of aspirin (less than 3 g/day); –– other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents and you are prescribed elevated doses of aspirin (3 g/day or more); –– injectable heparins; –– uricosurics (often used for gout); –– ticlopidine; or –– enoxacin. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Pregnancy and Breast-FeedingIf you are pregnant: – If you are in the first or second trimester (i.e. first 5 months) of pregnancy, your doctor can safely prescribe this medicine for one-off use only. – NEVER use this medicine during the third and final trimester of pregnancy (i.e. from the sixth month onwards). Even a single dose may be harmful to your unborn baby (in particular, their cardiovascular and kidney health). If you are breast-feeding: Actron solution passes naturally into breast milk. As such, do NOT use this medicine. – If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, consult your doctor or pharmacist before using any form of medicine.
