Therapeutic Indications This medication is for calcium deficiency during periods of growth, pregnancy, breast-feeding and also as a supplement for osteoporosis treatments: for elderly, post-menopause, corticosteroid therapy and immobilised patients. This drug is in powder form for oral solution in a single-dose sachet, box of 60 sachets. Contraindications Do not take CALCIDOSE 500 powder oral solution in the following cases: - Hypercalcemia (abnormally high level of calcium in the blood) - Hypercalciuria (high level of calcium in the urine) - Urolithiasis (stones) - Tissue calcifications. - Long-term immoblisation with hypercalcemia and/or hypercalciuria. If in doubt, it is advisable to consult your doctor or pharmacist. Special warnings and side effects Special warnings: If you are diabetic or are on a hypoglucidic diet, keep an eye out on the saccharose content = 1.25g per dose. Precautions for use: - Use this drug with precaution in the case of: * Prolonged treatment or renal insufficiency: it is important to control the level of calcium in the blood: reduce or stop treatment depending on the results. IF IN DOUBT DO NOT HESITATE TO CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST FOR ADVICE. Interaction with other drugs - Regular blood and urine tests will need to be done when combined with high doses of vitamin D. - If you take digitalis or diuretics: you must regularly consult your doctor during treatment. - If you take tetracyclines it is recommended to space out these with calcium over 3 hour gaps. TO AVOID INTERACTIONS WITH OTHER DRUGS YOU MUST CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST IF GOING THROUGH OTHER TREATMENT. Pregnancy and breast feeding Calcidose can be taken during pregnancy as well as during breast feeding. Consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking any drugs. Dosage and how to use Dosage: - Adults: 1-1.15G of calcium per day (2-3 sachets). - Children (> 10 ans): 0.5G of calcium per day (1 sachet). - Children over 10 years of age: 1G of calcium per day (2 sachets). How to use: Orally: dilute the powder in a glass of water and swallow immediately. Symptoms and instructions in case of overdose Symptoms: thirst, nausea, vomiting, constipation. Seek medical advice. Side effects Like all drugs CALCIDOSE 500 powder sachet drinkable solution can cause side effects (this will not affect everyone). Possible dry mouth. Risk of an increase in the level of calcium in the blood and urine if treatment is prolonged. If you notice side effects that are not mentioned here, or if certain side effects become more severe, please consult your doctor or pharmacist.
