Description
PSYLLIUM, loose plant is a herbal medicine indicated :
- in the symptomatic treatment of constipation,
- in cases where it is desirable to obtain soft stools to facilitate defecation, for example in cases of painful defecation after rectal or anal surgery, anal fissures and haemorrhoids.
Recommendations for use
Adults and adolescents aged 13 and over: 25 - 40 g of seeds per day (equivalent to 4 - 7 level tablespoons), taken 3 times a day.
For children aged 6 to 12: 12 - 25 g of seeds a day (equivalent to 2 - 4 level tablespoons), divided into 3 doses during the day.
Not recommended for children under 6 years of age.
Precautions for use
Do not use Psylium : if you are allergic to psyllium seeds; in the event of sudden changes in intestinal function persisting for more than 2 weeks; in the event of rectal bleeding of unknown cause or in the event of failure to defecate after taking another laxative; if you suffer from certain diseases of the oesophagus, intestine or colon; in the event of abdominal pain (stomach ache) or faecal impaction (blockage of faecal matter); if you have difficulty swallowing or throat problems.
