Product Description – Can be used to treat constipation in adults and children aged 8 years and over. – This medicine is a soluble powder. Dissolve in at least 50 ml of water and drink. – Forlax generally takes effect between 24 and 48 hours after ingestion. – Medicinal constipation relief should be supplemented by positive changes in diet and lifestyle. How to Use Dosage For adults and children aged 8 years and over: 1 or 2 sachets per day, taken preferably in the morning. – The daily amount may be modified to achieve the desired result. Take 1 sachet every other day (for children, this is an ideal dosage) up to a maximum of 2 sachets in a single day. – Dissolve contents of sachet in at least 50 ml of water and drink immediately. Note: – Forlax generally takes effect between 24 and 48 hours after ingestion. – Children should not take this medicine for more than 3 months. – After taking Forlax, you can maintain healthy digestion with positive dietary and lifestyle changes. – If your symptoms persist or worsen, consult your doctor or pharmacist. Length of Treatment – Children should not take this medicine for more than 3 months. Ingredients Active ingredient: Macrogol 4000 (10.00 g per sachet) Saccharin (E954), orange and grapefruit flavour (containing orange and grapefruit essential oils, concentrated orange juice, citral, acetaldehyde, linalool, ethyl butyrate, alpha-Terpineol, octanal, beta gamma hexenol, maltodextrin, gum arabic, sorbitol (E420), butylated hydroxyanisole (E320), sulphur dioxide (E220) Packaging Forlax is made as a whitish powder (with an orange and grapefruit taste and scent) for reconstitution as a drinkable solution. It is sold in packs of 20 sachets. Precautions for Use – Very rarely, allergic reaction, causing rash or swelling of the face, has been reported in adults taking medicines containing macrogol (a form of polyethylene glycol). – Isolated cases of severe allergic reaction resulting in loss of consciousness or faintness (or feelings of faintness) have also been reported. If you develop any of the above symptoms, discontinue use immediately and seek urgent medical advice. This medicine may cause diarrhoea. Consult your doctor or pharmacist prior to use if you: – have impaired kidney or liver function; or – are taking diuretics (medicines that promote urine evacuation), or are elderly, due to a risk of drop in blood-sodium (salt) or blood-potassium levels. Contra-indications Do NOT use if you: – are allergic to macrogol (polyethylene glycol) or any of this medicine's other ingredients (see above); – have an illness such as severe bowel disease; – have an inflammatory bowel disease (e.g. ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease); – have a gastro-intestinal perforation, or are at risk of suffering a gastro-intestinal perforation; – have ileus, or a possible bowel obstruction; or – are experiencing abdominal pain of undetermined cause. If in doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine. If you are pregnant or breast-feeding: Forlax can be used safely during both pregnancy and breast-feeding. If you are pregnant, trying to conceive or are breast-feeding, consult your doctor or pharmacist before using any form of medicine.
