Indication This medication is symptomatic treatment for constipation for adults. How to take this drug Orally. Dosage and how to use Attack treatment: 2-3 teaspoons of 5ml per day. Maintenance treatment: 1-3 teaspoons per day. The length of treatment depends on the symptoms. Composition Active ingredients: Lactulose: 35.00 g Special solidified paraffin oil. Quantity of: Vaseline: 21.45 g Liquid paraffin: 42.91 g Per 100g. Other ingredients: Aspartame, cholesterol, lactic acid, bixin oil, mandarin essential oil, lemon essential oil, sweet orange essential oil. Format Oral jelly. Precautions for use Special warnings: NOT FOR PROLONGED USE (NO LONGER THAN 8 DAYS) WITHOUT MEDICAL ADVICE. Occasional constipation It can be linked to a recent change in life (for example travelling). This is short-term help. Inform of your doctor if constipation from an unexplained change in lifestyle with pain, fever, swelling of the stomach appears. Chronic constipation (long-term): Can be linked to two causes: - intestine illness Your doctor will prescribe you a specific medication for this; - an imbalance in the function of the intestine due to food habits and lifestyle. Treatment should also be alongside: - an increase in vegetable foods (green vegetables, crudities, bread, fruit...). - an increase in water and fruit juice consumption. - an increase in physical activity (sport, walking...). - defecation reflex. - sometimes an addition to food. Specific precautions Bedridden patients or those with swallowing difficulties should be careful when taking this medication due to bronchial inhalation. This medication must be used with precaution by those with liver or kidney disease as well patients being treated by diuretics. Contraindications You must never take TRANSULOSE jelly in the following cases: - Allergy to one of its components or lactulose - Certain intestine or colon illnesses such as rectocolitis or Crohn’s disease - Abdominal pain - Digestive perforation or risk of one - If you suffer from phenylketonuria (a hereditary disease discovered at birth) due to the aspartame content. IF IN DOUBT IT IS ADVISABLE TO ASK YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST FOR ADVICE. Pregnancy and breast feeding It is not recommended to use this drug during pregnancy. If you discover that you’re pregnant during the treatment, consult your doctor who is the only person who can judge whether the drug should be continued. Consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking any drugs. Side effects Like all drugs TRANSULOSE jelly can cause side effects (this will not affect everyone): - bloating, semi-liquid faeces. These appear at the beginning of treatment and stop after changing the dosage. - rare cases of itching, anal pain and moderate weight loss. - using paraffin oil increases the risk of anal seepage and possible irritation. If you notice side effects that are not mentioned here, or if certain side effects become more severe, please consult your doctor or pharmacist. Symptoms and instructions in case of overdose If you have taken more of TRANSULOSE than you should have done, inform your doctor or pharmacist.
