Product Description Recommended for relieving certain types of constipation, as well as preparing the rectum for medical examination (rectoscopy). Directions for Use For rectal insertion. To make suppositories easier to insert, try soaking them in cold water prior to use. Dosage Insert 1 suppository between 5 and 30 minutes before attempting to pass a bowel motion. If your constipation is particularly strong, a second suppository can be inserted between 30 and 60 minutes later. Ingredients Per suppository: Active Ingredients: Biliary fluid extract titrated in 12.86% cholic acid: 0.700 g Biliary fluid extract – beef bile extract titrated in 45% (m/m) cholic acid: 0.200 g Drinkable water: 0.500 g Other Ingredients: Essence of anise, gelatine, caramel colour (E150), glycerol Packaging This medicine is produced in the form of a suppository and sold in packs of 10. Precautions for Use Use of this product to treat haemorrhoids, anal fissures or ulcerative colitis is not recommended. Occasional Constipation Infrequent bouts of constipation may be due to recent changes in scenery (e.g. because you've been travelling). Medication can be useful if used for a brief period. Recent constipation that cannot be explained by lifestyle changes, or which is accompanied by pain, fever or bloating, should be checked by your doctor. Chronic Constipation Persistent constipation may be caused by: – bowel disease, which must be checked by a doctor; or – an upset in regular bowel function due to diet and/or lifestyle. Possible treatments include: – eating more plant and plant-derived foods (e.g. fresh and raw vegetables, wholemeal bread and fruit); – drinking more water and fruit juice; – getting more physical exercise (e.g. by walking or playing sport); – re-training the defecation reflex; and – (in some cases), playing sounds while eating and drinking. Contra-indications Do NOT: – use if you are allergic to any of this medicine's ingredients. – give to children under 12 unless prescribed by your doctor. Interactions with Other Medicines Combining medicines can be dangerous. Consult your doctor or pharmacist prior to use if you are currently taking any other medicines. Pregnancy and Breast-Feeding – If used correctly, this medicine is safe for women and babies during both pregnancy and breast-feeding. – Consult your doctor or pharmacist before using any form of medicine. Possible Side Effects As with all medicines, Rectopanbiline suppositories can have undesirable effects on the body. Some people are more resistant than others. Possible effects include: – burning sensation around the anus. Storage Instructions Store below 25 °C.
