Indication This medication is symptomatic treatment for constipation. A LAXATIVE: Psylia has a strong hydrophile power which forms a consistent viscous gel. The active substance comes from Psyllium cuticles of the seeds. The psyllium normalises the functions of the intestine by a physical mechanism. It increases the weight of the stools and their water content, giving them consistency for easy evacuation. It helps normal intestinal functioning. The psyllium has two other effects: - it reduces the serum cholesterol level of normal or hyperlipidemic patients and the serum level of low density lipoproteins and in some cases that of triglycerides. - it slows down the glucose absorption. How to take this drug Not applicable. Dosage The normal dosage for adults is 1 sachet 1-3 times per day depending on the needs. Pour the sachet into a glass of fresh water, stir and drink immediately. It is advised to drink another glass of water a few minutes after. Composition Active ingredients: Psyllium: 3.6g. Anhydrous citric acid, sorbitol, potassium bicarbonate, sodium bicarbonate, calcium carbonate, saccharine sodium, lemon flavouring (lemon essential oils - maltodextrin). Precautions for use - in case the colon motor function has changed and for patients who are bedridden, you must stick to the prescribed dose. - each sachet contains 3.75 mEq of potassium, the dose does not need to be changed. Secondary effects: In certain cases, the feeling of abdominal bloating appears at the beginning of treatment. Special warnings: Medical treatment for constipation is a supplementary to other hygiene factors.
