Product Indication This medicine can be used: – to supplement treatment of osteoporosis, when your intake of calcium and vitamin D is insufficient; and – to treat calcium or vitamin D deficiency in the elderly. Directions for Use Chew or suck. Dosage 2 capsules per day, taken either together or separately. Ingredients Active IngredientsPer tablet: Calcium carbonate: 1250.00 mg – of which calcium: 500.00 mg Cholecalciferol (vitamin D3): 440 international units (IU) – of which powdered cholecalciferol concentrate: 4.40 mg Other Ingredients: Alpha-Tocopherol, hydrogenated soybean oil, gelatine, sucrose, corn starch, anhydrous citric acid, malic acid, povidone, mannitol, microcrystalline cellulose, sodium carmellose, magnesium stearate, aspartame, apricot flavour CAK (sorbitol, mannitol, glucono delta-lactone, anhydrous colloidal silica, maltodextrin, acacia, natural apricot flavour) Packaging This medicine is produced as a chewable, suckable tablet and and is available in packs of 10, 60 or 180. Warnings and Precautions for Use Excessive calcium or vitamin D consumption can be dangerous. If you use this medicine over a prolonged period, your urine must be analysed regularly to monitor your body's calcium levels. Depending on the results, your doctor may decide to reduce the dose or stop your treatment altogether. Contains two sugars (sucrose and sorbitol). If you are fructose-intolerant, or have glucose-galactose malabsorption or a sucrase-isomaltase deficiency (these are rare, inherited disorders), consult your doctor prior to use. Consult your doctor prior to use if you have kidney disease or poor kidney function, or you suffer from sarcoidosis (a disease whose only symptom is often fatigue, and which causes the ganglia to swell and the lungs and other organs to become inflamed). Contra-indications Do NOT use if: – you are allergic to any of this medicine's ingredients (see above); or – you have a peanut or soya allergy (this product contains hydrogenated soybean oil); – you have hypercalcaemia (an excessively high blood-calcium level); – you have hypercalciuria (an excessively high level of calcium in your urine); – you have been using limb immobilisation devices over a prolonged period and have hypercalcaemia and/or hypercalciuria; – you have kidney stones; or – (due to the presence of aspartame) you have phenylketonuria (an inherited disorder diagnosed at birth). Pregnancy and Breast-Feeding– If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, do not take more than 1 tablet a day. – Consult your doctor or pharmacist before using any form of medicine.
