Product Indications The solution created from this effervescent granule medicine can be used: – to correct calcium or vitamin D deficiency in the elderly; or – in conjunction with treatments for osteoporosis, where calcium or vitamin D intake is insufficient. Directions for Use For oral administration. Dosage1 sachet per day. Empty the contents of the sachet into a glass, add a large quantity of water, stir, and then drink the solution immediately. If you think that this medicine is too strong or too weak for your body, consult your doctor or pharmacist. Length of TreatmentUse strictly as prescribed by your doctor. Ingredients Active Ingredients (per 8 g sachet): Calcium carbonate: 2500 mg – of which calcium: 1000 mg (25 millimoles) Concentrated, powdered cholecalciferol: 880 international units (IU) – of which cholecalciferol (vitamin D3): 22 µg Other IngredientsAnhydrous citric acid, malic acid, gluconolactone, maltodextrin, sodium cyclamate, sodium saccharin, lemon flavour (sorbitol, mannitol, D-gluconolactone, dextrin, gum arabic, lemon essential oil), rice starch, potassium carbonate, ?-tocopherol, hydrogenated soybean oil, gelatine, sucrose, corn starch. Precautions for Use – If using for an extended period, regular monitoring of urinary calcium levels is necessary. Depending on the results, your doctor may decide to reduce your dosage or stop your treatment altogether. – Use with caution if you are currently taking additional, large doses of calcium or vitamin D (which should be done under strict medical supervision). – If following a course of sodium fluoride- or bisphosphonate-based treatment, it is recommended that you leave 2 hours between doses of this sachet product and your other medicine(s). If taking tetracycline antibiotics, leave 3 hours between doses of different products. – Use with caution if you suffer from sarcoidosis or kidney disease. Ingredients – Important InformationIf you are intolerant to certain sugars, consult your doctor before using this medicine. Contains potassium (171.2 mg per sachet). Use with caution if you suffer from kidney disease or must control the amount of potassium in your diet. Contains soybean oil. Do NOT use if your allergic to soya or peanuts. Contra-indications Do NOT use if: – you are hypersensitive or allergic to vitamin D or any other ingredients (particularly soybean oil); – have abnormally high blood-calcium levels (hypercalcaemia); – have elevated levels of calcium in your urine (hypercalciuria); or – suffer from kidney stones (nephrolithiasis). If you are pregnant or breast-feedingDue to this medicine's high levels of vitamin D3, use during pregnancy or breast-feeding is NOT recommended.
