How to take this drug How to use Orally. Dosage Always respect the prescribed dosage by your doctor. IF IN DOUBT CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST. The normal dose is 2 tablets per day. Composition of Idéos Active ingredients are (per tablet): Calcium: 500 mg Quantity of calcium carbonate: 1250 mg Cholecalciferol (vitamin D3): 400 UI Quantity of cholecalciferol concentrate: 4 mg Other ingredients: Xylitol, sorbitol, povidone, magnesium stearate, lemon flavouring (lemon and orange essential oils, lisea cubeba, maltodextrin, acacia gum, sodium citrate), cholecalciferol, alpha-tocopherol, soya oil partially hydrogenated, gelatine, saccharose, wheat starch. Format This drug is in the form of a tablet to be sucked. Box of 4 polypropylene tubes of 15 tablets. Precautions for use Be careful when taking IDEOS 500mg/400UI tablets: - prolonged treatment: it is recommended to regularly check the calcium level in the blood. This is particularly important for elderly patients and those taking digoxine or diuretics. Depending on the results, your doctor might reduce your dosage or even stop treatment. - supplementary calcium and vitamin D doses need strict medical monitoring. - treatment of biphosphonates, antibiotics of the tetracycline family, thyroid hormones, iron salts (orally), strontium or zinc: it takes at least 2 hours between taking these drugs and IDEOS, - sarcoïdosis or renal insufficiency. - immobilisation (risk of hypercalcemia). Contraindications Do not take IDEOS 500mg/400UI tablet in the following cases: - if you are allergic to vitamin D or one of the other ingredients in IDEOS - if you are allergic to peanuts or soya due to the soya oil content - if you have an abnormally high calcium level in the blood - if you have an abnormally high calcium level in the urine - if you are suffering from a disorder that may cause hypercalcemia and / or hypercalciuria (hyperactivity of the parathyroid glands, bone marrow disease (myeloma), malignant bone tumour, bone metastases) - if you have kidney failure - if you have kidney stones or have calcium deposits on the kidneys - if your vitamin D intake is too high. Pregnancy and breast feeding During pregnancy do not exceed 1500mg of calcium and 600UI per day of vitamin D3 (1 tablet per day). You can take IDEOS during breast-feeding. As calcium and vitamin D pass into human milk, you need to consult your doctor first if your child is taking another product containing vitamin D.
