Indication Coltrate Vitamin D3 contains calcium and vitamin D3 to help the intestine absorb the calcium and stick it to the bones. It is used: - to treat calcium and vitamin D deficiency for older patients, - as a supplement to osteoporosis treatments when the calcium and vitamin D intake is not sufficient. How to take this drug Orally. Dosage Always respect the prescribed dosage by your doctor. IF IN DOUBT CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST. Caltrate Vitamin D3 is in the form of a coated tablet to be taken orally. Daily dose: 2 tablets per day, swallowed with water. Composition Active substance (per coated tablet): Calcium carbonate: 1498.50 mg Quantity of calcium: 600.00 mg Cholecalciferol or Vitamin D3: 400.00 UI Other ingredients: Microcrystalline, povidone, crospovidone, sodium laurilsulphate, sodium croscarmellose, magnesium stearate, OPADRY OY-S-27203, light liquid paraffin, talc. Pharmaceutical form and content Format This drug is in the form of a coated tablet. Vial of 60. Precautions for use Be careful when taking CALTRATE VITAMIN D3 600mg/400UI coated tablets: - in case of long-term treatment of Caltrate Vitamin D3 it is recommended to regularly check the calcium level in your blood. This is important especially for older patients or when this treatment is combined with cardiotonic glycosides or diuretics. Depending on the result your doctor might reduce or stop your treatment. - If you have kidney stones - If your doctor has told you that you have renal insufficiency - If your doctor has told you that you have sarcoidosis - If you are immobilised and have a reduction in bone mass (osteoporosis) - If you take other medications containing vitamin D3 or calcium. Contraindications Do not take CALTRATE VITAMIN D3 tablet in the following cases: - If you are allergic to vitamin D or one of the ingredients in this - If you have an abnormally high level of calcium in your blood and/or high level of calcium in your urine. - If you have kidney stones - If you have taken an excessive amount of vitamin D. Pregnancy and breast feeding The daily dose should not exceed 1500mg of calcium and 600UI of vitamin D (1 tablet per day). Consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking any drugs.
