Precautions for Use In cases of diarrhoea (i.e. increase in the daily number of stools) in children under 30 months, medical consultation is essential in order to determine the cause and, if necessary, organise rehydration therapy. Consult your doctor urgently if: – your child under 6 years produces more than 6 loose stools a day for more than 24 hours, and/or their diarrhoea is accompanied by weight loss; – your or your child's (over 6 years) diarrhoea persists after 2 days of treatment; – you or your child have/has fever or are/is vomiting; – your or your child's stools contain blood or mucus; or – if experiencing heavy thirst, your or your child's tongue feels dry. The above signs indicate dehydration (loss of body liquid) due to diarrhoea. In such cases, your doctor may deem fit to prescribe a rehydration treatment, which may take the form of an orally-administered treatment or an intravenous drip. Contains sucrose and lactose. Do not take if you are fructose-intolerant, or have galactosaemia, glucose-galactose malabsorption or a sucrase-isomaltase deficiency (these are rare, inherited disorders). In the case of a child under 6 years, you must use this medicine (or any rehydration medicine prescribed by your doctor) strictly as directed and implement dietary changes where necessary. Consult your doctor regarding the possibility of consuming milk or dairy products. In the case of children over 6 years, as well as adults, this medicine is to be used to supplement dietary modification: * Keep yourself hydrated with plenty of liquids (with salt or sugar) to compensate for water lost due to diarrhoea. Adults require 2 litres of water a day. * As for what to eat: – Avoid certain foods (particularly green and raw vegetables, fruit and spicy foods) as well as iced drinks. – Instead, eat more grilled meat and rice.
