Therapeutic Indications: This medication improves digestion and is a laxative. It is treatment for digestive discomfort and constipation. Contraindications: You must never take HEPARGITOL powder in the following cases: - intestine or colon illnesses, - abdominal pain (stomach pains). IF IN DOUBT IT IS ADVISABLE TO ASK YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST FOR ADVICE. Cautions: Not to be used for a prolonged period of time without doctors permission. Occasional constipation: It can be linked to a change in your routine (travelling). This medication is for short-term use. All unexplained constipation from a change in routine and all constipation along with pain, fever and bloating needs medical advice. Chronic constipation (long-term constipation): It can be linked to two causes: - intestine illness - imbalance of the intestine due to food habits and lifestyle. The treatment helps with the following: - an increase in vegetable-based foods (green vegetables, crudities, bread, fruit...) - an increase in water and fruit juice consumption - an increase in physical exercise (sport, walking) - a reduction in defecation reflex - sometimes adding bran to the diet. It is recommended to seek advice from your doctor or pharmacist. Cases among children: For children the treatment of constipation is based on lifestyle and dietary measures: in particular the use of the right amount of water with infant milk powders, a diet rich in vegetable products, addition of juice. Long-term treatment of a laxative is not recommended for children as it can upset the normal functioning of the defecation reflex. Precautions for use: - In the case of a sodium diet be aware of the 0.277g of sodium in each sachet. - Inform your doctor if you suffer from gallbladder. - In the case of colitis, reduce the dosage and avoid taking this on an empty stomach. - In the case of diabetes be aware of the 0.5g of saccharose in each sachet. Pregnancy and breast feeding: This medication can be taken during pregnancy as well as during breast feeding. Consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking any drugs. Dosage and how to use: Pour the contents of 2 sachets into half a glass of water and stir. For constipation: take 2 sachets on an empty stomach. For digestion discomfort: take a sachet before any meal or in times of pain in half a glass of water. For adults: 2-4 sachets per day. For a child over 2 years of age: 1-2 sachets per day depending on age. Symptoms and instructions in case of overdose: If you have taken more HEPARGITOL than needed: - risk of diarrhoea. Consult your doctor or pharmacist immediately. Side effects: Like all drugs HEPARGITOL powder can cause side effects (this will not affect everyone): - diarrhoea - abdominal pain.
