Therapeutic Indications To soothe irritation associated with dry eyes. Contra-indications Do NOT use if: – you are allergic to carmellose sodium or any of this medicine's other ingredients. Precautions for Use – If your symptoms persist, consult an ophthalmologist so that your treatment can be modified. – Celluvisc eye drops do not contain preservatives. Consequently, a single-dose vial is at risk of bacterial contamination as soon as it is opened. – Avoid scratching the eyeball or the eyelid with the tip of the vial. – Dispose of empty vials immediately after use. Do not re-use. – Following application, your sight may be clouded slightly until the drop disperses throughout the eye. Interactions with Other Medicines– If using in conjunction with another eye drop product, leave 15 minutes between applications. Use the most viscous product last. – The more viscous an eye drop product, the more difficult it becomes for similar products to disperse throughout the eye. – If you are currently taking, or have recently taken other medicines (including non-prescription medicines), consult your doctor or pharmacist prior to use. Pregnancy and Breast-FeedingIf you are pregnant or breast-feeding, consult your doctor or pharmacist before using any form of medicine. Driving and Operating MachineryDepending on the viscosity of the eye drop product used, your vision may be disrupted slightly for several minutes following application. Do not drive or operate machinery until it has returned to normal. Dosage Do not exceed any dosage prescribed by your doctor. The typical dose is 1 drop per eye, administered 2 to 4 times a day (up to 8 times a day in cases of persistently dry eyes). If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Directions for Use For external use only. Apply topically via ocular instillation (squeezing drops into the eye). Use a new single dose for each application. Each dose contains enough solution for both eyes. Instructions– Wash hands thoroughly prior to use. – While applying drops, be careful not to scratch the eyeball with any part of the vial. – Discard vial if seal is damaged or broken. To apply drops: 1. Break off a single dose from the blister-pack. 2. Keep the dose upright while opening. Give the flat part a full turn to break the seal. 3. Roll your eyeball upwards and gently pull down the lower eyelid. Tip the dose and press gently to squeeze 1 drop into each eye. After application, blink several times. 4. Dispose of empty dose immediately. Do not store or re-use. If the seal is damaged or broken, discard. Frequency of DosesUse at regular intervals throughout the day. Length of TreatmentIf your symptoms persist or worsen, consult an ophthalmologist so that your treatment can be modified. Possible Side Effects As with all medicines, Celluvisc eye drops may have one or more undesirable effects on the body. Some people are more resistant than others. Potential adverse effects (all of undetermined frequency) include: – blurred vision, – eye irritation, – tingling sensation, – feeling of something being in the eye, – itching, – bloodshot eyes, and – increased eye watering. If you experience any undesirable effect(s) not listed here, or if the effect(s) is/are serious, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
