Sweet and fruity, the scent of geranium essential oil is reminiscent of that of rose. Originally from South Africa, the geranium has existed in the wild since antiquity, but has only been cultivated since its arrival in Europe at the end of the 17th century. China is now the leading producer and exporter of scented geranium. The cultivation of rose geranium gained importance in North Africa and Reunion.

Other uses of Geranium Oil
The geranium plant traditionally repels insects. The essential oil from this plant is no exception to the rule. You can also use it as a repellent by applying a mixture of geranium and 10% vegetable oil onto the body (1 drop of essential oil for every 10 drops of vegetable oil preferably hazelnut), and also as a remedy for bites by putting 1 drop onto the affected area (mosquitoes, spiders, wasps, nits...).
The Geranium essential can be replaced by rose, even if it is a little less thin, in body and face firming creams.
Contraindications
Like all essential oils the geranium oil is not allowed during the first 3 months of pregnancy. It is also not to be used during breast feeding.
