Cinnamomum camphora à cinéole HEBBD (essential oil botanically and biochemically defined essential oils) Its Madagascan name summarises its use very well!: “Ravintsara” means “good leaf fits all” or “tree with good leaves”. It is the most anti-viral essential oil out there, ideal for the whole family.
The scent of ravintsara essential oil is close to that of eucalyptus. Originally from China, Japan and Taiwan, the camphor tree was first introduced on the island of Reunion then on that of Madagascar, which is today the main exporter.

Use

Orally- Swallow 1 pure drop of ravintsara + 1 pure drop of eucalyptus on a neutral tablet or on a sugar cube, or in a teaspoon of olive oil or honey, and leave to melt in the mouth, 5 times per day for 3 days, then 3 times per day for 3 days. If you prefer you can dilute the essential oils in a infusion of rosemary sweetened with honey (in this case, pour ravintsara and eucalyptus into a teaspoon of honey before putting it in the glass).
Viral illnesses : Apply 2 pure drops onto the sides of the nose during the day, and on the sole of the foot and thorax during the evening. Morning and evening throughout the illness (safety - 2 months’ maximum) or until complete recovery.
Bath-Dilute 5ml of ravintsara in 1 tablespoon of milk or base for the bath. Pour it into a hot bath and bathe for 20 minutes.
Herpes : Apply 1 pure drop directly onto the herpes 6-8 times per day.
Tiredness, convalescence, immunity: Apply 10 pure drops along the spine morning and evening until recovery. Swallow 1 drop on a neutral tablet or in 1 teaspoon of olive oil or honey or even a sugar cube, and leave to melt in the mouth, 4 times per day. Other uses
This essential oil is suitable for children and infants. To prevent or treat a respiratory illness (for example in winter), do not hesitate to massage the child’s thorax several times per day with a 50/50 mixture of ravintsara and sweet almond vegetable oil (5 drops of one diluted in 5 drops of another).
Contraindication
This essential oil works for the whole family, does not irritate the skin or show any toxicity. Like all essential oils the ravintsara oil is not allowed during the first 3 months of pregnancy.
