The sweet scent of “geranium rosat” has been used for centuries by perfumeries. This Pelargonium variety (scientific name of geraniums) is native to the Reunion Island, called “Bourbon Island” under the old regime.
Use
Diffusion +++, Bath ++, Massage +++, Orally +
Ambient setting: on its own or in a mixture by regular low heat evaporation.
Atmospheric diffusion: in a mixture from a diffuser by spraying.
Dermal application: diluting, 5-30% in vegetable oil.
Orally: diluted with some vegetable oil - only after medical agreement. 1 drop 2 times per day.
Dry inhalation: 1-2 drops on a tissue.
Facial sauna: 1-2 drops in bowl of boiling water.
Practical advice
Skin treatment : Water vapour face bath for 3-5 minutes with geranium bourbon EO helps eliminate the impurities and cleanse the skin. For direct application, dilute the oil in Jojoba vegetable oil (non-greasy liquid wax).
Tranquillity : : Inhaling 1-2 drops on a tissue helps calm a stressful situation.
Nose bleed (epistaxis) : Put 1 drop of geranium bourbon EO onto a cotton pad and place in the nose.
To speed-up healing : Dilute to 5% in musk rose vegetable oil and massage onto the cuts.
Relaxing after work : Diffusion: 10 drops of geranium bourbon EO + 5 drops of bitter orange oil.
Contraindication
Not recommended for pregnant or breast feeding women or children under 8 years of age.
