The sunny rocky slopes of North Africa are the natural habitat of Oregano, whose tall stems bear tight bouquets of purple-pink flowers. The several species of Oregano differ by their cooking use and their medicinal properties.
Use
Diffusion -, Bath -, Massage -, Orally +
Ambient setting: on its own or in a mixture by regular low heat evaporation.
Atmospheric diffusion: to be used with precaution after advice from a health professional, no prolonged use.
Dermal application: diluting 5% maximum in vegetable oil.
Orally: diluted with some vegetable oil and combined with lemon essential oil. Only after medical consent. 1 drop per day for 5-7 days.
Inhalation: not recommended
Practical advice
Important to know : Rich in phenols, this essential oil is to be used with precaution. If taken orally it must be followed by a hepatic drainage to protect the liver. For example phytotherapy (artichoke, black radish or fumeterre) over 8-10 days.
Tiredness : Take 1 drop of compact oregano EO + 2 drops of lemon EO in a teaspoon of food oil, 3 times per day for 5-7 days.
Kill germs : Respiratory, digestive and urinary infections can be cured by dermal application: 15 drops of compact oregano EO + 60 drops of Tea-Tree EO in a 30ml bottle, finished by adding macadamia vegetable oil. Apply 2-3 times per day onto the throat, chest, abdomen, lower stomach or on the sole of the feet depending on the problem.
Contraindication
Not recommended for pregnant or breast feeding women or children under 12 years of age. Not suitable for those suffering from hepatitis.
