Nicknamed “tasty” or “poivre d’âne”, the Satureja deliciously flavours sauces in dishes helping digestion.
Its abundant blooms of pale pink tufts take over the the sunny slopes of limestone, temperate regions.
Use
Diffusion -, Bath -, Massage -, Orally +
Ambient setting: on its own or in a mixture by regular low heat evaporation.
Atmospheric diffusion: not recommended
Dermal application: diluting 5% maximum in vegetable oil.
Orally: diluted with some vegetable oil and combined with lemon essential oil - only after medical agreement. 1-2 drops per day for 5-7 days.
Inhalation: not recommended
Practical advice
Urinary tracts : By dermal route, the Mountain Satureja essential oil is combined equally with the Tea-Tree essential oil: 45 drops of each in a 30ml vial, filled up with Macadamia vegetable oil.
Apply onto the lower stomach or soles of the feet 2-3 times per day.
Orally-Cystitis: 1 drop of Satureja EO + 1 drop of juniper EO on a neutral tablet, 3 times per day for 5 days.
Orally-Tonsillitis: 2 drops of Satureja EO + 2 drops of lemon EO on a neutral tablet, 4 times per day for 5 days. Only for adults.
Important to know : Taking this essential oil orally will need a liver drainage by a concentrated extract of a plant (artichoke, fumitory, black radish)
It is strong so be careful :The Mountain Satureja needs to be used with precaution due to its strength. Some of the molecules are harmful for the liver; this is also the case for Clove, Chinese cinnamon, Oregano and Thyme essential oils. This is why it is recommended to take them with lemon essential oil (supports the liver) and then practise a drainage with the plants.
Contraindication
Not recommended for pregnant or breast feeding women or children under 12 years of age.
