Botany specifications
As aromatherapy, we do not use medicinal sage (toxic essential oil). The Clary sage has the same grey-green aromatic foliage but differentiates itself with its larger leaves and clearer floral stalks. We call it the “all-in-one” due to its numerous properties.
Use
Diffusion ++, Bath +++, Massage +++, Orally +
Ambient setting: on its own or in a mixture by regular low heat evaporation.
Atmospheric diffusion: in a mixture from a diffuser by spraying.
Dermal application: diluting, 5-35% in vegetable oil.
Orally: diluted with some vegetable oil - only after medical agreement. 1 drop twice a day.
Dry inhalation: 1-2 drops onto a tissue (if the smell is not too strong for you).
Facial sauna: 1-2 drops in bowl of boiling water.
Practical advice
Important to know : Due its oestrogen content, the Clary sage can be very useful during menopause.
Hormonal balance : Hot flushes: dilute 90 drops of Clary sage EO with Argan oil in a 30ml bottle. Apply 3-4 times per day (lower stomach, elbow crease, sole of the foot).
Beautiful hair and good humour : - Greasy hair & dandruff treatment: use a neutral shampoo and add 4-5 drops of Clary sage. - Mood during menopause: dilute 90 drops of Clary sage + 45 drops of bitter orange with Argan oil in a 30ml bottle. Apply morning and evening along the spine.
Massage-Period Pains: 5 drops of Clary sage EO + 5 drops of tarragon EO. Apply in its pure state on the ovarian area at the first signs of pain, 3 times per day for 5 days.
Bath-Dysmenorrhea: 20 drops of Clary sage EO + 10 drops of lavender EO in 4 cap-fulls or 20 neutral base pressures. Pour everything into a warm bath.
Contraindication
Not recommended for mastosis or personal or family history of hormone-dependent cancers. Not recommended for pregnant or breast feeding women or children under 12 years of age.
