Main properties
It is the essential oil par excellence for respiratory diseases, because it is both antiviral, decongestant (especially for the nose) and expectorant, hence its use for both ENT pathologies. viral (cold, flu) and bacterial (bronchitis, sinusitis, otitis). How to use
Inhale * Diffuse in an ambient setting, at home or at work, especially in epidemics ("winter illnesses”). * Dry inhalation (some drops on a tissue) or wet (some drops in a bowl of boiling water) Inhale for 10 minutes Apply * Rub onto the chest, top of the back, solar plexus and neck (5 drops of diluted eucalyptus oil in 5 drops of vegetable oil; preferably macadamia or sweet almond oil).
Blocked nose: 3 drops of eucalyptus essential oil on a handkerchief or in a bowl of simmering water, breathe for 10 minutes with each nostril.
Otitis: apply 2 drops of eucalyptus essential oil diluted in 3 drops of sweet almond vegetable oil around the earlobe, 3 times a day, for 5 days. Never pour essential oil into the ear canal.
Skin infections (infected acne, a cut which is not healing, an injury which is calming down...): Apply 1-2 pure drops onto the infected area.
Other uses : We can reduce the fever by having a foot bath: pour 10 drops of eucalyptus diluted in 1 tablespoon of base or milk into hot water.
Contraindication
Like all essential oils the eucalyptus radiata oil is not allowed during the first 3 months of pregnancy. It is also not to be used during breast feeding. However it is suitable for children and even babies.
