Therapeutic Indications: This medication is a bronchial secretion decongestant; it helps get rid of them by coughing. This medication is recommended in bronchial congestion periods especially during acute episodes of bronchitis. Contraindications: Do not use CARBOCISTEINE BIOGARAN 2%, CHILDREN, SUGAR-FREE drinkable solution sweetened with saccharin sodium: · If you are allergic to one of its components (notably methyl parahydroxybenzoate and other parabens); · For babies (less than 2 years) in case of blockage in the bronchus, If in doubt, it is advisable to consult your doctor or pharmacist. Cautions: Medical advice is necessary: - if loose or infected cough, - if the child has a chronic bronchus (long-term) or lung illness. It is recommended not to take medication that is an antitussive or that dries out the bronchial secretions at the same time as this treatment of this medication. Treatment should not be continued if symptoms worsen. In this case, consult your doctor to re-evaluate the treatment. This medication is not recommended for patients with a fructose intolerance, glucose/galactose malabsorption syndrome or sucrase/isomaltase deficiency (rare hereditary illness). Precautions for use: This medication should be taken with care in the cases of a stomach ulcer or duodenum. This drug contains sodium. This medication contains 13mg of sodium per 5ml of the drinkable solution. Patients should take into account their sodium intake. This drug contains sodium methyl-parahydroxybenzoate (E219) and can cause local skin reactions. IF IN DOUBT DO NOT HESITATE TO CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST FOR ADVICE. Interaction with other drugs: Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you take or have taken another drug, even if it was not a prescription drug. Pregnancy and breast feeding: This drug can only be used during pregnancy following advice from your doctor. If you discover that you’re pregnant during the treatment, consult your doctor who is the only person who can judge whether the drug should be continued. It is possible to breast feed your child during this treatment. Consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking any drugs. Dosage: 1 tablespoon (5 ml) contains 100 mg of carbocisteine. - Children over 5 years of age: 300 mg per day, spread out over 3 doses or 3 spoons per day. - Children 2-5 years old: 200 mg per day, spread out over 2 doses or 2 times per day. If you think that the effect of CARBOCISTEINE BIOGARAN 2%, CHILDREN, SUGAR-FREE drinkable solution sweetened with saccharin sodium is too strong or too weak, consult your doctor or pharmacist. How to use: Orally. Frequency of dose: Treatment should not exceed 8-10 days without medical consent. Side effects: Like all drugs CARBOCISTEINE BIOGARAN 2%, SUGAR-FREE syrup can cause side effects (this will not affect everyone): · Risk of bronchial congestion for newborns. · Skin reactions such as stretch marks, outbreak, urticaria and swelling of the face. · Possible digestion problems: nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting, stomach ache. In these situations it is recommended to reduce the dosage.
