Description
History and origin
Word created in 1811 by Thomas Thomson, a combination of soda "sodium", in reference to its chemical composition, and the ancient Greek líthos "stone". The success of the stone came at the beginning of the 20th century thanks to a Welsh princess. She ordered a large quantity of Sodalite from Canada to decorate Marlborough House in London. Greenland and North America have the largest sodalite ores.
