History and origin
The name Lapis-Lazuli comes from the Latin "lapis" meaning stone and "lazuli" meaning azure. Lapis lazuli has a very ancient history. The first lapis lazuli ornaments date back 6,000 years. This deep blue stone was a symbol of wealth, nobility and power. The main lapis lazuli deposits are in Afghanistan, Russia and Chile.

~40% Lazurite (Na6Ca2(AlSiO4)6(SO4,S,S2,S3,Cl,OH)2 ) as well as Calcite ( CaCO3 ), Sodalite and Pyrite.
