Description
Alopexyl 5% is indicated for the treatment of moderate hair loss in males suffering from androgenetic alopecia. It is presented in the form of a solution to be applied locally to the scalp. One ml of solution contains 50 mg of minoxidil and the excipients are propylene glycol, 96% ethanol and purified water.
Directions for use
The usual dose is 1 ml, applied twice a day to the area of the scalp to be treated. It takes around two months before you notice any stimulation of hair growth. The time taken and the level of response depend on each individual, and your doctor will prescribe a dosage and duration of treatment suited to your situation. Never exceed the daily dose of 2 ml. Alopexy 5% is applied to the scalp only (do not apply it to any other part of the body). It should be applied to a healthy, dry scalp, starting with the central part of the area to be treated and then spread evenly over the whole area. Please wash your hands before and after each application. Alopexy 5% comes in a spray bottle with applicators. This system delivers 1 ml of active substance. To use, click the cannula into the pump, then remove the cap from the bottle and insert the sprayer with the cannula into the bottle. Then simply prime the pump, and you can proceed with the application by pressing once. It takes 6 squeezes to deliver 1 ml of solution. Finally, the nozzle should be rinsed with warm water after use.
Precautions for use
This medicine should only be used by men aged between 18 and 65. It is not recommended for use in women due to the risk of hypertrichosis (abnormal development of the hair system). It is not suitable for pregnant or breast-feeding women. Do not use Alopexy 5% if you are allergic to any of the ingredients or if you have scalp lesions (the scalp must be absolutely healthy). The active substance will be absorbed into the bloodstream to a greater extent and undesirable effects may occur. Do not combine the use of Alopexy 5% with any other local scalp treatment. During treatment, sun exposure should be avoided. In the event of accidental contact with the eye, irritated skin or mucous membranes, rinse thoroughly with water. Some people may experience a change in colour and texture. Treatment requires regular medical monitoring, particularly at the start of treatment. If you experience cardiovascular symptoms (drop in blood pressure, rapid pulse, etc.), oedema of the hands or feet, or redness or irritation of the scalp, you should stop treatment immediately. If you have a history of heart disease, you should seek medical advice before taking Alopexy. For further information, please consult the information leaflet for this medicine. This medicine contains propylene glycol, which may irritate the skin. It also contains ethanol and is therefore flammable. Alopexy 5% is indicated for androgen-induced hair loss. In the case of sudden, patchy or reactive hair loss, this medicine is not suitable.
