Description
SODIUM ALGINATE/BICARBONATE BIOGARAN CONSEIL is indicated for heartburn, acid reflux (pyrosis) and heartburn. These symptoms may occur, for example, after meals or during pregnancy, or when there is inflammation of the oesophagus.
Dosage and frequency of administration
Adults, including the elderly, and children over 12: 1 sachet 3 times a day, after the 3 main meals and possibly in the evening at bedtime.
This dosage may be doubled in cases of severe reflux or oesophageal inflammation.
Children under 12: only on medical advice.
Elderly: no dose adjustment is required for this population.
Patients with hepatic impairment: no dose adjustment is required.
Patients suffering from renal insufficiency: caution is required in the event of a strict salt-free diet.

- The other ingredients are : Calcium carbonate, carbomer 974P, sodium saccharin, peppermint essential oil, sodium hydroxide (for pH adjustment), sodium methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E219), sodium propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E217), purified water.
Precautions for use
This medicine contains methyl parahydroxybenzoate and propyl parahydroxybenzoate and may cause allergic reactions (which may be delayed). Please consult your doctor before taking this medicine if you have been asked to follow a low sodium diet, particularly if you suffer from heart failure. This medicine contains sodium. This medicine contains 6 mmol (or 138 mg) of sodium per sachet, equivalent to 7% of the WHO recommended maximum daily dietary intake of 2 g of sodium per adult. To be taken into account in patients on a strict low-salt diet. This medicine contains calcium. Each sachet contains 160 mg calcium carbonate. Precautions should be taken in patients with or who have had severe kidney disease.
