Indication Activir 5% is treatment for localised herpes (also called sores) for adults and children over 6 years. How to take this drug How to use Local use. Start application from the very first signs of itching or burning before the blisters appear. The treatment is more effective if it is started at the very first signs of symptoms. Wash your hands well before and after each application of the cream to avoid passing on the infection. Apply the cream on using your fingers. Close the tube or pump after use. How to use the pump: It is recommended to perform at least 3 to 4 slow and complete pressures, so that the pumping device is fully primed as soon as it is first used and thus ensure optimal delivery of the product. Dosage Apply the cream onto the herpes 5 times per day with each application every 3-4 hours. Do not put on over night. Frequency of dose Applications are to be spread throughout the day every 3-4 hours. For example, apply the cream in the morning after breakfast then after lunch, then after snack time, after dinner then before going to bed. Length of treatment The length of treatment should not be more than 5 days. Composition of Activir Active substance is (per 100g of the cream): Aciclovir: 5.00 g Other ingredients: Propyleneglycol, poloxamer 407, sodium laurilsulphate, cetostearylic alcohol, vaseline, dimeticone 20, liquid paraffin, purifed water, glycerol monostearate, macrgol stearate 100. Format This drug is in the form of a cream. 2 g tube. Precautions for use This medication contains propyleneglycol and cause skin irritations. If the herpes has not healed after 5 days of treatment or if symptoms worsen: Stop treatment and immediately consult your doctor. - In case of an outbreak of labial herpes, some hygiene precautions are necessary, to protect your entourage from the risk of transmission of the virus. In addition to your treatment, to avoid transmission of the virus, you must respect the following hygiene rules: - avoid close contact, even a kiss for example with a close one, - DO NOT KISS A CHILD, - inform your doctor or pharmacist if you have any doubts, - wash your hands well before touching the blister, - during treatment do not rub the eyes or eyelids with your hands if you wear contact lenses. Do not wet them with your saliva. - avoid touching or scratching the injuries, - in case of herpes in another place, do not use this cream, speak to your doctor. Contraindications Do not use Activir cream in the following cases: - for a child under 6 years of age, - in the mouth, vagina or eyes, - sensitivity to aciclovir or one of its dilutants. Pregnancy and breast feeding Pregnancy: The use of aciclovir for skin use can be used during pregnancy. If you discover that you’re pregnant during the treatment, consult your doctor who is the only person who can judge whether the drug should be continued. Breast feeding: You can use this cream whilst breast-feeding. During pregnancy and breast feeding it is always recommended to consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking any type of drug.
