Product Description Contains paracetamol and caffeine. Can be used to relieve pain and fever (headache, flu-like states, toothache and period pain).Suitable for adults and children weighing over 50 kg (or 15 years and over). Directions for Use For oral administration. Empty contents of 1 or 2 sachets into a glass, then add a small quantity of liquid (e.g. water, milk or fruit juice). DosageTake 1 or 2 sachets (depending on the severity of the problem), repeating if necessary after 4 hours at the earliest. A daily dose of 3 grams of paracetamol (or 6 sachets) is sufficient to relieve most pain. If the pain is more serious, and your doctor recommends it, the daily dose may be increased to 4 g (or 8 sachets). However: – do not take more than 3 g per day without first consulting your doctor; and – NEVER take more than 4 g per day. Carefully read the labels of all medicines that you are currently taking to ensure that you do not exceed this limit. Leave at least 4 hours between doses. If you suffer from severe kidney disease (e.g. renal failure), do not take more than 6 sachets (or 3 g of paracetamol) per day and leave at least 8 hours between doses. Ingredients Active Ingredients: Per sachet: Paracetamol – 500.00 mg Caffeine – 50.00 mg Other Ingredients: Lactose, sodium dodecyl sulphate Packaging This medicine is produced as a powder solution and sold in packs of 10 sachets. Warnings and Precautions for Use – Contains sodium (but less than 1 millimole per sachet). – If your pain persists for more than 5 days, or your fever for more than 3 days; if this medicine is too weak; or if you develop additional symptoms: discontinue treatment and consult your doctor. – If you suffer from serious liver or kidney disease, consult your doctor prior to use. – Caffeine is a stimulant. To avoid insomnia, do not take this medicine in the evening. WarningsContains paracetamol and caffeine. Do not use with other medicines containing paracetamol or caffeine due to risk of exceeding maximum recommended daily dose (see section titled "Dosage" above). Contra-indications Do NOT: – use if you are allergic to paracetamol, caffeine or any of this product's other ingredients; – use if you have severe liver disease; or – give to children under 15 years (due to the presence of caffeine). Interactions with Other Medicines– Tell your doctor that you are taking this medicine if they recommend a blood-sugar or blood-uric acid level test. – Do NOT use if you are taking enoxacin (an antibiotic). Pregnancy and Breast-FeedingIf you are pregnant: – Do NOT use unless recommended by your doctor. – If, while using this medicine, you discover that you are pregnant, consult your doctor – only they are qualified to decide whether or not you should continue treatment. If you are breast-feeding: – Use with caution. Heavy doses of caffeine may cause agitation or sleeping problems in your child. – Do not take more than 100 to 200 mg of caffeine per day (equivalent to 2 to 4 sachets of this product, or 1 or 2 mugs of coffee). In addition: – avoid coffee and tea; – take this medicine just after breast-feeding; and – leave generous intervals between doses. Possible Side Effects As with all medicines, Céfaline Hauth solution may have one or more undesirable effects on the body. Some people are more resistant than others. Possible effects include: Linked to paracetamol: – In some rare cases: rash or red blotches on the skin, or sudden allergic reaction that may take the form of swelling on the face or neck; or extreme discomfort combined with a drop in blood pressure. In such cases, discontinue use immediately, consult your doctor and avoid all medicines containing paracetamol. – In very rare cases: biological changes requiring that a blood test to be performed (these include liver dysfunction and abnormally low white blood cell or blood platelet counts – the latter of which may cause bleeding from the nose or gums).
