Product Description A313 Ointment, for topical use, is recommended as a supplementary treatment for irritating dermatitis. Protects the skin. How to Use For topical use. Apply to the affected area once or twice per day. Do not swallow. Ingredients Active ingredient (per 100 g of ointment): Synthetic Vitamin A (from concentrate) – oily form (200,000 international units/IU) Other ingredients: Macrogol 400, macrogol 4000, polysorbate 80 Packaging Tube of ointment (weight: 50 g) Tube composition: aluminium with interior epoxyphenolic coating; polypropylene cap WARNINGS For external use only. Hypervitaminosis is possible if used for a prolonged period. Possible hypervitaminosis poses a greater risk to the body if the ointment is applied repeatedly, thickly or to a large area; if the applied ointment is covered up (e.g. by plasters); or if the ointment is applied to damaged (particularly burnt) skin, to mucous membranes, to premature babies or to very young (but not premature) babies or children (due to the area-to-weight ratio and constriction that may be caused by the wearing of nappies/diapers). Store below 25 °C. Do NOT use if you have: – a history of allergy to any of the ingredients; – infective dermatitis (skin inflammation caused by an infection); or – weeping dermatitis (skin inflammation that oozes fluid) If you are pregnant: If applied topically in the form of an ointment, the chances of vitamin A entering the bloodstream are negligible. However, a lack of case studies makes it difficult to judge the possible effects of cutaneous administration of vitamin A on pregnant women. Consequently, you are advised to use this ointment only if necessary, and never in combination with other medicines containing vitamin A. If you are breast-feeding: Do not apply the ointment to the breasts, since your baby may swallow it. Marketed since 1965. Distributed by PHARMA DEVELOPPEMENT Ltd. (based at Chemin de Marcy 58800, Corbigny, France).
