Product Description Humex medicated mouth spray for sore throat combines benzalkonium chloride (a topical antiseptic) with lidocaine (another local antiseptic, with pain-relieving properties). It acts primarily against bacteria and targets and soothes discomfort caused by sore throat. Directions for Use For oral spray application. DosageLeave at least 4 hours between doses. Adults: 1 burst of spray, administered 4 to 6 times a day. Children 6 to 15 years: 1 burst of spray, administered 2 or 3 times a day. Do not use just before eating or drinking. Length of TreatmentDo not use for more than 5 days. Ingredients Per 100 ml: Lidocaine hydrochloride – 0.30 g Benzalkonium chloride – 0.03 g Excipients: Partial hydrolysate of hydrogenated starch*, glycerol, lemon flavour**, purified water *d-maltitol, d-sorbitol, glucose **Lemon alcoholates and tinctures, orange alcoholate, lemon essential oil (without terpene), citral Propellant: Nitrogen (pressure: 6.5 bars) Packaging Pressurised 35ml bottle (aluminium with epoxyphenolic inner coating; with propylene dip tube) Precautions for Use Since anaesthesia of the oropharynx creates a choking risk: – do not use just before eating or drinking; and – use with caution if administering to a child under 12 years. Do not use for more than 5 days (prolonged use can alter the natural microbial balance of the mouth cavity and cause the spread of bacteria and fungi). Repeated or prolonged local anaesthetic treatment of the mucus membrane can increase the risk of adverse systemic effects such as central nervous system dysfunction (including seizures) and cardiovascular system depression. Contra-indicationsDo NOT: – use if you are allergic to local anaesthetics or quaternary ammonium cations; or – administer to children under 6 years.
