Product Indication To relieve mild sore throat without fever. Directions for Use For oral administration. Dosage– Adults: Take 1 soup spoon (15 ml) 3 times a day. – Children over 3 years (or 15 kg): Take 2 teaspoons (or 10 ml) 3 times a day. – Children 6 months to 3 years (or 7 to 15 kg): Take 1 teaspoon (5 ml) 3 times a day. This medicine is sold for your personal use only to treat a specific medical complaint. – Do not use it for any purpose other than pain relief. – Do not supply it to any other person. Ingredients Active Ingredient: Per 100 ml: Alpha-Amylase: 20,000 CEIP Units Other Ingredients: Sucrose solution, sodium methylparaben (E219), sodium propylparaben (E217), citric acid monohydrate, Sunset Yellow FCF (E110), glycerol, soluble essential oil of mandarin (S164), drinking water Packaging This medicine is a cough syrup packaged in a vial (available volumes: 125 ml and 200 ml). Precautions for Use – If you develop a fever and/or other new symptoms (e.g. severe sore throat or headache, purulent sputum or difficulty swallowing), consult your doctor. – Do use for longer periods unless instructed by your doctor. – Contains sucrose (3.2 g per soup teaspoon; 9.6 g per soup spoon).Use with caution if you are diabetic and/or on a low-sugar diet. – If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Warnings– Contains sucrose. Do NOT use if you are fructose-intolerant, or have glucose-galactose malabsorption or a sucrase-isomaltase deficiency (these are rare, inherited disorders). – Contains sodium methyl p-hydroxybenzoate (E219) and sodium propyl p-hydroxybenzoate (E217). May cause allergic reaction. – Contains an azo dye (Sunset Yellow FCF / E110). May cause allergic reaction. Contra-indications Do NOT use if: – you are allergic to alpha-amylase or any of this medicine's other ingredients (especially parabens). Interactions with Other MedicinesIf you are currently taking, or have recently taken, any other medicines (including non-prescription medicines), consult your doctor prior to use. Pregnancy and Breast-Feeding– If you are pregnant, you are advised NOT to use this medicine. – If, while using this medicine, you discover that you are pregnant, consult your doctor – only they are qualified to decide whether or not you should continue the treatment. – Do NOT use this medicine if you are breast-feeding. If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, consult your doctor or pharmacist before using any form of medicine. Possible Side Effects As with all medicines, Maxilase sore throat syrup may have one or more undesirable effects on the body. Some people are more resistant than others.Potential adverse effects include: – (in rare cases, due to the presence of alpha-amylase) changes in the skin similar to an allergic reaction, such as urticaria (hives) and Quincke's oedema – in such cases, abandon treatment; and – respiratory difficulty (bronchospasm). If you experience any undesirable effect(s) not listed above, or if the effect(s) is/are serious, consult your doctor or pharmacist. Storage Instructions Keep below 25°C.
