Acute cystitis is a frequent infection affecting more than 25% of women, among whom about one-third suffer recurrences. Most often they are not serious but can be a significant social handicap. It is the second most common reason for consultation and prescription of antibiotics in French doctors' offices and is probably the first cause of bacterial infections in France. The resistance of Escherichia coli (the bacterium responsible for 90% of urinary tract infections) to commonly used antibiotics is steadily increasing. DUAB is a synergistic association of two nutritional actives, cranberry and propolis, both recognized for their antibacterial properties. This Antibacterial Duo (DUAB) helps reduce the resistance and virulence of Escherichia coli.
Use of Duab
DUAB is promoted to gynecologists and urologists and is used for the female urinary tract and for the male urinary tract attack use (2 capsules morning and evening for 5 days) and maintenance use (1 capsule morning and evening, 10 days per month).
Mode of action of Duab
Zinc: natural anti-inflammatory effect Cranberry (Vaccinum macrocarpon) contains polyanthocyanidins (PAC) with bacterial anti-adherent properties on the urinary tract and disinfectant. The cranberry benefits from a favorable opinion of the AFFSA. Propolis: resinous substance collected by bees on various plants and which provides the building material for the hive, is well known for its anti-bacterial properties. Propolis potentiates the effects of antibiotics (decreases the MIC) and cranberry (effect of cranberry goes from 6h to 12h of action), especially on Echerichia Coli bacterial strains.
Composition of Duab
PAC (cranberry proanthocyanidins): 60 mg for 2 capsules Pure propolis: 120 mg for 2 capsules Zinc: 2.5mg for 2 capsules (i.e. 25% of RDA) Nutricell Laboratory
