Therapeutic Indications To expel parasites of the digestive tract such as pinworm, Ascaris, whipworm (which causes trichuriasis) and Ancylostoma (hookworm; causes ancylostomiasis). Precautions for Use Contains sucrose. Do not use if you are sucrose-intolerant (this is a rare inherited disorder). If you are pregnant or breast-feeding: – For your health, do not take flubendazole (this medicine's primary ingredient) unless recommended by your doctor. – Consult your doctor or pharmacist before using any form of medicine. Dosage The dose is the same for adults and children but varies depending on the parasite to be removed. – For pinworm: Take a single dose of 1 tablet. To eliminate all traces of infestation, take another single dose 15 to 20 days later. To minimise the risk of recurrence, maintain strict personal hygiene (e.g. by ensuring that your nails are clean) and wash clothing regularly and thoroughly. – For Ascaris, whipworm and hookworm: Take 2 tablets a day (1 in the morning, 1 in the evening) for 3 days. Do not exceed the dose prescribed by your doctor. Directions for Use To be taken orally. Can be swallowed whole with water or chewed during meals. – No preliminary purging or fasting required. – It is not necessary to follow a special diet while using this medicine. Possible Side Effects As with all medicines, Fluvermal tablets may have one or more undesirable effects on the body. Some people are more resistant than others. – In rare cases (but particularly when the parasitic infestation is strong), users may experience abdominal pain, nausea or diarrhoea. This is not a cause for concern and you should continue your treatment. – Also, in rare cases, allergic reactions in the form of rash or redness, hives (urticaria) and facial and neck swelling (Quincke's oedema) have been observed.
