Indications of Ascofer: This drug contains iron. It is treatment for anaemia from a lack of iron in the body. Suitable for adults and children from 6 years and preventative treatment for pregnant women with an iron deficiency. Contraindications: You must never take Ascofer in the following cases: - allergy to the active ingredients or one of the other ingredients - iron excess in particular for certain types of anaemia (thalassemie, refractory anaemia, anaemia due to medullar insufficiency). If in doubt, it is advisable to consult your doctor or pharmacist. Special warnings: This treatment is not suitable for treatment of anaemia linked to inflammatory diseases. A medical consultation is advisable before taking this medication. Precautions for use: The prevention of iron deficiency in newborns is based on the early initiation of a diversified diet. Tea consumption inhibits the iron absorption. A test on the effectiveness is useful after 3 days of treatment, consult your doctor for this. Dosage: Suitable for adults and children from the age of 6 years old. *Curative treatment: - for adults and children over 30 kg (from the age of 10 years old). 3-6 capsules per day. - for children between 20-30kg (6-10 years): on average 3-4 capsules per day. *Preventative treatment: Pregnant women: 1-2 capsules per day during the last two trimesters (from the 4th month).
