Product Description Laxative. Softens stools and stimulates the defecation reflex. Suitable for treating occasional constipation. For adult use only. Directions for Use For rectal insertion. Administer 1 single-dose tube (5 ml) a day. It is not necessary to lie flat while administering the solution, nor to wait for it to take effect. Dosage1. Break the top, then squeeze the tube gently until a drop appears. 2. Use this drop to lubricate the tube's cannula. 3. Insert the lubricated cannula into the rectum. 4. Apply pressure on the tube to empty the contents into the rectum. 5. Withdraw the cannula without reducing pressure on the tube. The laxative should take effect in 5 to 20 minutes. If you lie flat for a prolonged period, it may take significantly longer (possibly over an hour) to take effect. Length of TreatmentDo not use for a prolonged period unless recommended by your doctor. Ingredients Active ingredients (per 5-ml single dose): Sorbitol (70% crystallisable): 4.4650 g Sodium citrate: 0.4500 g Sodium lauryl sulfoacetate (70%): 0.0645 g Excipients: Sorbic acid, glycerol, purified water Precautions for Use Unless recommended by your doctor, do not use: – if you have haemorrhoids (piles); – if you have an anal fissure (which may or may not be painful during defecation); – if you have ulcerative colitis (whereby the rectum, and sometimes the large intestine, become inflamed, causing stomach pains, diarrhoea with phlegm, blood in stools and sometimes fatigue); or – with catioresine sulphosodium (either orally- or rectally-administered). Contra-indications Do NOT use if you: – are experiencing abdominal pain of unknown cause; or – if you are allergic to any of this medicine's ingredients. Pregnancy and Breast-FeedingIf you are pregnant: – Do NOT use this medicine unless recommended by your doctor. – If, while using this medicine, you discover that you are pregnant, consult your doctor – only they are qualified to decide whether or not you should continue the treatment. – Consult your doctor or pharmacist before using any form of medicine.
