Indications of Sorbitol Delalande: - Treatment for occasional constipation for adults - Treatment for dyspeptic disorders (difficult to digest, bloating) for adults. How to take Sorbitol: How to use This medication can be taken on its own or diluted in a drink. Dosage: Only to be used by adults. Dissolve the contents of the sachet into half a glass of water. - Treatment for occasional constipation: 1 sachet in the morning on an empty stomach. Format: This drug is in a solution form in a single-dose sachet. Box of 20. Precautions for use: Prolonged use is not recommended. This drug contains sorbitol. This drug is not recommended for patients with a fructose intolerance (rare hereditary illness). Occasional Constipation Occasional constipation can be linked to a change in routine (travelling). This medication is a short-term treatment. It is recommended for patients to seek medical advice before starting or continuing with this treatment in the case of: - recent unexplained constipation due to change in routine, - constipation along with vomiting, no gas release (occlusion), stomach pains, fever, bloating (stomach swelling), blood in the faeces and weight loss. These signs can be symptoms for a more serious illness, persistent symptoms or when constipation is accompanied by other disorders such as: persistent pain in the abdomen, episodes of constipation / diarrhoea, phlegm, involuntary defecation (Unintentional faeces loss) This treatment of constipation is only an adjunct to the hygiene-dietetic treatment: - foods rich in vegetable fibres and drinks, - physical activity and education. Digestive Discomfort It is recommended for patients to seek medical advice before starting or continuing with this treatment in the case of: - diarrhoea - abdominal pains - vomiting Precautions for use: Administer with caution in case of megacolon due to impaired colonic motility and patients confined to the bed (risk of faecal impaction). Do not use if you suffer from biliary obstruction or severe liver cell insufficiency. In the case of colitis, avoid taking drugs on an empty stomach and reduce the dosage. For elderly patients, make sure you are drinking enough water. Contraindications: · Irritable bowel syndrome (ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease ...), occlusive or sub-occlusive syndrome, indeterminate painful abdominal syndrome, constipation due to certain medications. Taking Delalande is not recommended alongside KAYEXALATE. Pregnancy and breast feeding: Studies in animals have not shown a teratogen effect. In the absence of a teratogenic effect in animals, a malformative effect on the human species is not expected. To date the substances responsible for malformations in the human species have been shown to be teratogenic in animals during well-conducted studies on two species. In clinical studies there are no particular malformative or fetotoxic effects appeared to date. However monitoring pregnancies exposed to sorbitol is not enough to rule out any risk.
