Product Indications – Symptomatic treatment of mild trauma (e.g. sprains and bruises). – Symptomatic treatment of mild tendinitis. Directions for Use For topical use. Suitable for adults and children over 15 years. Massage gently into the affected area. Wash hands thoroughly after use. Do not use for more than 5 days without a prescription. DosageApply 3 times a day. Ingredients Per 100 g: Ibuprofen: 5.00 g Hydroxyethyl cellulose, sodium hydroxide, ethanol (96%), essential oil of lavender, purified water Packaging This medicine is a gel for topical use, packaged in a tube (weight: 60 g). Warnings and Precautions for Use – In the absence of clinical data concerning the effects of this product on younger children, Ibufetum Ibuprofen Gel is suitable only for ages 15 and over. – Do not apply to eyes or mucus membranes. – If rash develops, discontinue use immediately. – In case of intensive treatment by a physiotherapist, wearing of gloves is recommended. Contra-indications Do NOT use: – if you are over 6 months pregnant; – if you are allergic to ibuprofen or any similar medicines, such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents (NSAIAs) or aspirin; – if you are allergic to any of this product's ingredients; – on damaged skin (including infected or weeping skin, eczema, burns and cuts). Interactions with Other MedicinesIf you are currently taking, or have recently taken other medicines (including non-prescription medicines), consult your doctor or pharmacist prior to use. Pregnancy and Breast-FeedingIf you are pregnant: No malformative effects on the human foetus have been reported. However, additional epidemiological tests would be necessary to confirm the total absence of risk. In the third cycle of pregnancy, prostaglandin synthesis inhibitors can cause: * in the foetus: – cardiopulmonary toxicity (pulmonary hypertension) with premature closure of the ductus arteriosus; and – kidney dysfunction, potentially causing kidney failure accompanied by oligohydramnios. * in both mother and child, towards the end of the pregnancy: prolonged bleeding. Unless they are to be used for obstetric purposes for a brief period only and under specialist supervision, NSAIAs must not be taken during the first 5 months of pregnancy unless deemed necessary by a medical professional. From the sixth month of pregnancy, NSAIAs must NOT be used in any circumstances. If you are breast-feeding: NSAIAs are known to pass into breast milk. As a precaution, do not use this product if you are breast-feeding. Possible Side Effects * Associated with the method of administration: localised, allergic skin reaction in form of itching or erythema. * Allergic reaction: – of the skin; – of the respiratory system (some people may experience asthma attack due to use of aspirin or NSAIAs); – of the whole body (in the form of e.g. anaphylactic shock). *Associated with presence of NSAIAs: dependent on the proportion of the active ingredient that penetrates the skin and passes into the bloodstream – therefore, the amount of gel applied, the surface area to which it is applied, the level of cutaneous integrity, the length of treatment and the use or non-use of occlusive dressings. If you exceed the recommended dose:Rinse skin thoroughly with water.
