MOROLFINE EG 5% is used to treat mycosis of the nails (infections caused by a fungus), affecting a maximum of 2 nails in adults. A fungal infection is usually characterised by a change in colour (white, yellow or brown) and a thickening of the nail, although the appearance may vary considerably. If the infection is limited to the upper part of the nail, follow your pharmacist's advice. If the infection is more serious, you should consult your doctor.
To apply the varnish, carefully follow the recommendations below:
For packs without accessories
1/ Before the first application of AMOROLFINE EG, carefully clean the nails and file the infected area of the nail (in particular the nail surface) as completely as possible. Take care not to file the periungual skin.
2/ Clean the surface of the nail and degrease it using a compress or cloth soaked in nail varnish remover.
3/ Apply the nail varnish using the spatula over the entire infected nail. Clean the reusable spatula between each pass from one nail to another, to avoid contaminating the nail varnish. Do not wipe the spatula over the edge of the bottle.
4/ Clean the spatula with a compress or cloth soaked in nail varnish remover.
5/ Recap the bottle tightly.
- The active substance is:
Amorolfine hydrochloride....................................................................................................... 5.57 g
Quantity corresponding to amorolfine base............................................................................... 5.00 g
Per 100 ml.
- The other components are : Methacrylic acid copolymer, triacetin, butyl acetate, ethyl acetate, absolute ethanol.
Ask your doctor or pharmacist before using AMOROLFINE EG 5%, medicated nail varnish:
- if you have diabetes;
- if you are being treated for a disease of the immune system (a disease which reduces the body's defences);
- if you have poor circulation in the hands or feet;
- if your nail is seriously damaged (more than two thirds of the nail is affected) or infected. In this case, your doctor may add an oral treatment in addition to your medicated nail varnish.
Do not apply cosmetic nail varnish or false nails while using AMOROLFINE EG. If organic solvents are handled, impervious gloves must be worn, otherwise the varnish will dissolve. This product contains ethanol (alcohol). Too frequent use or incorrect application may cause irritation and dryness of the skin around the nail. All medicines can cause allergic reactions; although most are mild, some can be serious. If this occurs, discontinue use of AMOROLFINE EG, remove AMOROLFINE EG immediately with nail polish remover or the cleaning wipes provided, and seek medical attention. AMOROLFINE EG must not be reused. You should contact a doctor immediately if you experience any of the following symptoms:
- You have difficulty breathing;
- Your face, lips, tongue or throat swell;
- You have a severe skin rash.
There are limited data on the use of amorolfine in pregnant and breast-feeding women. AMOROLFINE EG should not be used during pregnancy and breast-feeding unless clearly necessary. If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine.
