Product Description Colludol Mouth Spray contains a topical antiseptic and local anaesthetic that can be used to treat mild, feverless sore throat, as well as mouth ulcers (aphthae) and small mouth sores. Directions for Use For oral spray application. Dosage– Adults: 1 or 2 bursts of spray, administered 3 times a day. Do not administer more than 2 sprays per dose, or take more than 3 doses a day. – Children from 6 to 15 years: 1 burst of spray, administered 1 to 3 times a day. Do not administer more than 1 spray per dose, or take more than 3 doses a day. Frequency of Doses – Do NOT use Colludol just before eating or drinking. – Leave at least 4 hours between doses. Ingredients Per 100 ml: Active Ingredients: Hexamidine diisethionate: 0.100 g Lidocaine hydrochloride: 0.200 g Other Ingredients: Glycerol, sucrose, passion fruit flavour, peach flavour, mint flavour, purified water – Pressurising gas: Nitrogen – Pressure: 7 bars Packaging This medicine is a mouth spray solution sold in a vial (volume: 30 ml). Precautions for Use – Do not use on the eyes, nose or ears. – If using for sore throat: if you develop a fever, start to cough up purulent sputum, or experience difficulty swallowing; or if your condition worsens or persists after 5 days: consult your doctor. – If using for mouth ulcers or sores: if the injury is extensive or grows, or you develop a fever: SEEK MEDICAL ADVICE IMMEDIATELY. – This medicine contains a small amount of alcohol (less than 100 mg per spray). – If in doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist. Warnings– Anaesthesia of the throat may increase the risk of choking while eating. Therefore: * do NOT give this medicine to children between 6 and 12 unless recommended by your doctor; and * do NOT use Colludol spray just before eating or drinking. – Prolonged use of this product (for a period of more than 5 days) can alter the natural bacterial balance of the mouth and throat. – Do not exceed the stated dose. If taken repeatedly, or in large amounts, this medicine may pass into the bloodstream and affect the circulatory and nervous systems (causing a risk of seizure). – Do not use if you are fructose-intolerant, or suffer from glucose-galactose malabsorption or sucrase-isomaltase deficiency (all of which are rare hereditary disorders). Contra-indications Do NOT: – give to children under 6; or – use if you are allergic to hexamidine or any other topical antiseptics. Interactions with Other Medicines– Do not use at the same time as any other antiseptic medicine(s). – If you are currently taking, or have recently taken, any other medicines (including non-prescription medicines), consult your doctor prior to use. If you are pregnant or breast-feeding:– Use with caution during pregnancy and breast-feeding. – Consult your doctor or pharmacist before using any form of medicine. Possible Side Effects As with all medicines, Colludol Mouth Spray Solution can have one or more undesirable effects on the body. Some people are more resistant than others. Effects include: – Rash, facial and throat swelling (in these cases, discontinue use immediately and consult your doctor); – Temporary numbing of the tongue; – Choking while eating (in which case, discontinue use and consult your doctor). If you experience any undesirable effect(s) not listed above, or if the effect(s) is/are serious, consult your doctor or pharmacist. If you exceed the recommended dose:Excessive spraying can cause overdose. – Symptoms of overdose include: agitation, nervosity, drowsiness, nystagmus (disorientation), tinnitus (ringing in the ears), blurred vision, nausea, vomiting, seizure and impaired consciousness. – Symptoms may also include: cardiac depression, vasodilation (widening of blood vessels), low blood pressure, heart arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat) and cardiac arrest. SEEK MEDICAL ADVICE IMMEDIATELY. Storage Instructions Warning – pressurised container:– Do not expose to temperatures higher than 50°C or direct sunlight. – Do not pierce. – Do not burn, even if empty.
