Indication of macrogol sachets
This medication is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of constipation in adults and in children from 8 years of age. MACROGOL 4000 biogaran 10 g should remain a temporary treatment for constipation, lasting no more than 3 months in children, in combination with appropriate hygiene and dietetic measures.
How to take this medicine
Oral route. The contents of the sachets should be dissolved in a glass of water just before administration.
RESERVED FOR ADULTS AND CHILDREN FROM 8 YEARS OLD. The dosage is 1 to 2 sachets per day, preferably taken as a single dose, in the morning. The daily dose must be adapted according to the clinical effects obtained: it can range from 1 sachet every other day (in particular in children) to 2 sachets per day. In children, the duration of treatment should not exceed 3 months.

Special warnings Take special care with MACROGOL 4000 biogaran 10 g, powder for oral solution in sachet-dose: Before administering this treatment to your child, you must consult a doctor so that he rules out any organic cause of constipation. Due to the presence of sorbitol, this medication should not be used in patients with fructose intolerance (hereditary metabolic disease). In the event of diarrhea, appropriate monitoring will be instituted in patients at risk of hydro-electrolyte disorders. This medicine contains macrogol (= P.E.G. = polyethylene glycol). Very rare allergic manifestations (rash, urticaria, edema) have been reported with products containing macrogol. This medicine contains sulfur dioxide and may cause severe allergic reactions and difficulty in breathing. This drug contains sorbitol. Its use is not recommended in patients with sorbitol intolerance (a rare hereditary disease).

Contraindications
Never take MACROGOL 4000 biogaran 10 g, powder for oral solution in sachet-dose: - In the event of allergy (rash, urticaria, edema) to macrogol (= PEG = polyethylene glycol), or to one of the excipients contained in MACROGOL 4000 biogaran 10 g. · In the event of certain diseases of the colon and intestine (ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, etc.). Possible side effects

Diarrhea, which may be the cause of an urgent need to have a bowel movement and faecal incontinence, abdominal pain, bloating, nausea, vomiting, very rare cases of allergic manifestations such as rashes, hives and edema (face edema, angioedema). Taking too much can lead to diarrhea, usually resulting in a reduction in dosage or temporary discontinuation of treatment. Diarrhea can cause peri-anal pain.
